Conversation with Ruddy Trobrillant from POWER UP

Paris,France Words : Lionel Fracture , Images : Ruddy Trobrillant

Hello Ruddy, how are you? Can you introduce yourself quickly?

Hi guys! I am very well, thank you :)
My name is Ruddy Trobrillant, I am Digital Talent, which is a combination of several professions such as: Ambassador / Consultant / Model / Influencer and many other things [...]

Are you okay with being labelled as an influencer? What role does sport play in your job?

For a long time, this title "influencer" was frowned upon, misunderstood, people did not like to be called that. Everybody used to change that word to "creative" to be more relevant to all the tasks which came with it. Now I think that the word is understood better and anyway, whether it is or not ... a lot of people would like to become one and are not even realizing it. So, to get back to your question, being an influencer is part of my job;)

I think you should ask the question the other way around, to find out what role "influence" plays in sports? Because if you notice, all high level athletes try to "influence", because they know the importance of social networking, the ease and speed of transmitting information and especially creating a community, expanding outdoor sports; and therefore being able to reach non-athletes who might be affected by the way you bring sports into your daily life. "Influence a non-athlete to become one"
I told you about high-level athletes, but it makes even more sense with people who practice sport for leisure because you can identify even more with them

You were part of a crew called the PRC, were these your first steps in running or had you already trained?

I started running about 5 years ago because I needed to clear my head and stay fit. It was the most accessible sport in terms of time and money. Let us skip the details, I ran, I enjoyed it, I was not doing anything with my life at that time, which enabled me to accompany a friend to work every morning for a year. It went like this: travelling to "Choisy le Roi-Bastille" by public transport, and then the return trip "Bastille-Choisy" running (a little over 10KM).
I then met Jay Smith & Greg Hervieux at a famous “galette des rois” at the BlackRainbow offices, we hit it off right away, I was told about the PRC, and I made my debut there a week later. It was good fun and a real learning experience. Actually, I can only say THANK YOU for these moments.

Since you have made alot of progress, over what distance do you feel most comfortable?

I made progress, but at one point I was irregular. I am a hothead and in running if you  don’t practice you quickly lose everything. I felt more comfortable on a 10KM, because it’s the distance I ran for a year from Bastille to Choisy, then with my physique it was also more "logical", because you have to transport the body for 10K, so imagine for 20K or more ...I haven't changed my body so I still love 10K but I admit that the SEMI is awesome, as well as doing "X" KM trails. JUST DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT A MARATHON!!!

I heard through the grape vine that you once announced that you wanted to run a marathon in 2:45, but it never happened. So, when is the marathon?

You are on fire!!!!!! Quoting me and everything ...Yes I did announce it and I’m still convinced that this time I would have achieved it, I trained as I should, I was focused and I had my favorite coach, the one who made me run for the 1st official 10KM: Coach Gwen !! BUT […] at that moment, a mental barrier stopped me… I could not visualize my race; I was going crazy dreading the "WALL" at the 30th KM

Only wrong information everywhere, and I did not see myself running the marathon just to run the marathon, I had to do my time, I had a lot of imperatives at the worst time of my training, which meant that I couldn't even see Coach Gwen to reboost me. So, I wasted 3 months of training which drove me crazy and drove me to dislike this race. I think I will probably never run in a city marathon.

Today you are mostly involved in your Power Up crew. Can you explain to us the meaning of the name and logo?

It is very simple. For the logo, I was looking for what represented the most strongly the connection between sport and my life:
-Energy-Smile-The running track-The link or attraction between running and my life
So, I ended up sketching in a notebook a smiley, lightning bolts, tracks and above all an atom that would symbolize the link; after that it was just assembling :) Didn’t I sum up the process well for you? And the name came after, I just wrote down what I had always done to fulfill my needs and desires...

Other than this logo and Instagram, what makes Power Up unique? How does this team reflect your image?

There are 10,000 running Crews, and there is more and more each day, so I did not invent anything. This team is the very picture of my energy, my vision of sports, my goals shared with the members and many other things ... because I created it. But this team is also the reflection of each member, they each brought their energy and they all succeeded in making the POWERUP concept their own.The goal was not to showcase myself but to be able to help people excel differently in sports; to highlight this family.
Another element that represents the logo well, is a core in the middle and electrons around which allows proper functioning
We have a lot of energy to exert between running in the street, adding physical / technical training at the LAB or outside, running in forests or mountains.

Where do you have the most fun, in the gym, on the track or on the Trail paths?

I take as much pleasure in the LAB, as on the track and on trails. Why choose?!

So, what is your favorite pair?

All the pairs that I run with are my favorites
-The Terra Kiger color OG 2019 or color green 2020
-The Next Be True or mismatched blue and pink
-The alphafly Watermelon
-React infinity
-Bondi engineered garments multi
-Speedgoat green

What advice can you share with us, most often given to your PowerUp buddies?

So, here is the advice that I always offer, and the crew always takes the piss out of me for:
-Remember to drink water
-Do not forget the foam roller

The rest is secret, you will have to come have a laugh with us during training to find out :) THANKS DISTANCE and thank you to my crazy Soldiers for the FORCE
